Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1756. He was one of the world’s most important composers and wrote over 600 pieces. Some of which were some of the most recognisable tunes in the history of classical music.
As a three year old, Wolfgang was fascinated by the harpsichord lessons his father Leopold gave his sister. When he tried pressing the keys himself, Leopold was shocked. He could play tunes after only having heard them once. He could tell which notes were wrong and which were right by listening to them. At the age of 4, he had started composing his very own original music. Leopold then took Wolfgang to show him off. Wolfgang spent 9 years performing to royalty and fascinating famous musicians from all over the world.
In 1782, he married a singer named Constanze Weber and became close friends with Joseph Haydn. He had 6 children but sadly only 2 of them survived to adulthood.
In September 1791, Mozart became seriously sick and died a few months later. But Mozart still remains to be one of the most celebrated composers of all time.
