King of the Hill: Cassie's summary

King of the hill

King of the hill is about 4 children

And they are trying to win a go cart

Race.First they have to design the shape

Of the go cart. Next they have to find the right materials for the go cart. Lastly they have to

test it out. Race time!

                                      Stella's Haiku

                          Always chase your dreams
Try your best in all you do
                             Nothing can stop you

THE END

Devestated, I look around at the littered world, sand dunes slope over the destroyed city
buildings are torn apart. The polluted air fills my nostrils, black clouds cover the sky like jail bars on a prison cell.

As I walk over the deserted dunes I wonder if any other living creatures survived the explosion other than cockroaches. The world was silent and night fall is close I take shelter in a half buried house
I try to comfortmy self, by I can't.
This truly is the end.

School Journal, Part 3 #1 2008

King of the hill By Maggie Lilleby

This is an article about a trolley race. Damien, Kayla, Emry and Lex built a cart out of lots of different materials from their school and their local recycling centre. They have to plan and design what they think would be the fastest and the most efficient trolley. Of course, they had to choose who was going to race their trolley in the three races they competed in.

Zach s opinions about plastic

Question:if you could go back in time would you stop the discovery of plastic or do you think this material offers us important benefits that outweigh its negatives

Answer: properly I wouldn't but you have to buy them so people would be more likely to buy bags that aren't plastic.

Discussion questions about plastic

Discusion questions

1.if you could go back in time ,would you stop the discovery of plastic? or do you think this material offers us important benefits that out way its negatives

no I wouldn't. But I would advise them to use it sparingly to prevent the devastating results that are present today .The reason why I wouldn't stop them is that we do not realise how useful plastic is, and somethings would not be possible with out plastic such as laptops, cars and other technology that is much used today.

2.what if we tried to remove all of that plastic waste from the sea? would this be beneficial ,and what do you think some of the unexpected consequences might be?
the fact that it would leave us with a VERY large amount of rubbish is a complicated problem that might be hard to fix ,and would take a lot of trouble supposedly more than normal rubbish, to find a solution to, because plenty of it will have broken down and may be unrecyclable. But it would benefit the thousands of animals and sea creatures that die a slow and painful death caused by by the plastic in the sea ,and it would also benifit our sea so I think I would take It to an area were it could be controlled and deal with it over time

If I could go back in time and stop plastic I wouldn't because something worse would just be made to replace plastic that would probably be worse.

If I could get all the plastic out of the ocean, I would make a brochure and give it to all the people a fair idea on what really happens to their own garbage. Killing seagulls and other animals. So I would get all the plastic out of the ocean. All the plastic can go to the recycle company and it can be made into something different like a chair.

Paloma and Georgia's Discussion about Plastic

What really happens to the plastic you throw

away?

If you could go back in time, would you stop the discovery of plastic? Or do you think this materials

offers us important benefits that outweigh its negatives?

                                                 Paloma's Statement

I think if we went back in time they should keep paper bags because it is good for the environment

and you get lots of money from jobs so it wont make much difference if you buy paper bags.

                         Georgia's Statement

I think if I went back in time I would still make plastic invented but plastic bags would be very expensive so not as much people would buy them. I would also put up signs saying to put rubbish in the bin and tell everyone that plastic can only stay invented if we keep our planet clean and respect our planet by following those rules.
